16-18 Discretionary Fund

If you are aged 16-18 you may be eligible for Halesowen College Discretionary Fund. This fund is to support eligible students on courses funded by the Education Funding Agency (EFA). This fund excludes Apprenticeships.

Awards can be made to support the costs of meals, equipment, uniform, student visits, DBS checks and travel and travel to work placements, based on information provided by the curriculum area. This is pro rata for part-time students.

Vulnerable Student Bursary

If you are aged 16-18 you can apply for the Vulnerable Student Bursary if you are:

  • In or recently left care
  • Personally in receipt of Income Support
  • Disabled and receiving both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence payment
    You may be entitled to a bursary of up to £1,200 payable on a weekly basis for 30 weeks

Further Education Free Meals

If you are between 16-18 years on 31 August 2016 you may be eligible for free meals until the end of the academic year when you turn 19. You may be eligible if you or your parents are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job Seekers
  • Income Based ESA
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (income limit £16,190)
  • Universal Credit
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
