The Access to HE Diploma (Social Work) is a one-year, full time, level 3 course, which has been designed for people who want to study social work at university. Course content

This social work access course includes the essential concepts of sociology, psychology, family law and social work methods. This array of content will give you a solid foundation for a course at university.

Entry requirements 

You will need to have at least a grade 4 (C) in GCSE English or L2 Functional Skills and desirable to have a grade 4 (C) in GCSE Maths or L2 Functional Skills.  If necessary, you can study maths alongside the course.


You will need access to notebooks and stationery.

Day, time and duration 

Monday – 9:30-4:30 Shenstone House Campus

Thursday 9:30-2:30 – Online

1year full time course, consists of one day in college face to face learning and a day online being taught on Microsoft teams with a teacher.

Start date 

September 2022

Please note induction will be week beginning 05th September 2022, a letter will be sent to you advising the day and time for your induction.


If this is your first full level 3 course and you are aged 19 – 23 years, this course may be free
