This course is for people who do not have English as their first language.

Are you interested in learning more about businesses in the UK? This course offers an award or certificate in Business and Retail at Level 1. The course offers an introduction to the business, administration and retail sector, developing skills and knowledge specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. The course is designed to support progression into further learning and ultimately employment in business, retail, or related fields.

This course is designed to support you in improving your English skills in reading, writing and speaking whilst studying a vocational qualification in Business and Retail. Learners will complete the following units to achieve the Level 1 award:

• Working in Business and Retail
• Communication skills for work

There may be an opportunity to complete additional units in order to achieve the Level 1 Certificate. Learner’s suitability for this additional work will be assessed throughout the course and reviewed on an ongoing basis through continual skills assessment.

Learners must hold a full certificate in ESOL or other English language qualification at Entry 3 as a minimum due to the language requirements of the course. Learners will complete a short initial assessment to determine their eligibility for the award or certificate.

You will need a pen, an A4 sized lined notepad and a folder to keep your work in.
