This course is for people who do not have English as their first language.

Whether you’re permanently or temporarily living in the UK, here for work, or here for study, our experienced team of expert tutors is here to help you improve your English and gain a recognised qualification. Learning English with us will improve your communication skills, and can help you to gain work or progress to further study.

The course consists of three separate awards that are combined into an overall certificate. Each award is assessed separately and can form a qualification in their own right if learners do not pass all three components. The course is examined by Trinity College London.

Speaking and Listening:

• Obtain information from simple verbal communication; be able to speak in English; convey information to others; engage others in conversation.

Reading:

• Gain meaning from text; Identify the purpose of text; find information in text; recognise letters.

Writing:

• Construct sentences; use full stops and capital letter correctly; spell accurately; complete personal details on a form.

No formal entry requirements. Learners will take an initial assessment in Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing to assess their suitability for the Skills for Life courses and the most appropriate level of study.

You will need a pen, an A4 sized lined notepad and a folder to keep your work in.
