This course is for people who do not have English as their first language.

Whether you’re permanently or temporarily living in the UK, here for work, or here for study, our experienced team of expert tutors is here to help you improve your English and gain a recognised qualification. Learning English with us will improve your communication skills, and can help you to gain work or progress to further study.

This course offers progression for learners who have successfully completed Entry 1 or are already working at a higher level.

The course consists of three separate awards that are combined into an overall certificate. Each award is assessed separately and can form a qualification in their own right if learners do not pass all three components. The course is examined by Trinity College London.

Speaking and Listening:

• Obtain information from simple verbal communication; use pronunciation to convey meaning; use language that is appropriate to the context of a conversation; provide relevant information to others; obtain specific information from others; express views clearly

Reading:

• Follow main events in a text; use language features to work out meaning; identify the purpose of a text; find information in a text or image; use the alphabet to order words based on their first letter.

Writing:

• Present information in an appropriate format; construct sentences correctly; use adjectives and punctuation correctly; spell correctly; complete personal details in a form accurately

No formal entry requirements. Learners will take an initial assessment in Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing to assess their suitability for the Skills for Life courses and the most appropriate level of study.

You will need a pen, an A4 sized lined notepad and a folder to keep your work in.
