This course is for people who do not have English as their first language.

Why study this course?

The course is designed to support bi-lingual learners to prepare to become community interpreters.

You will learn about the sectors where interpreters may be required to work and about the role of the community interpreter.

Course content

You will study the following units:

English Language Awareness

Communities and Organisations

Entry requirements

Learners must hold a full certificate in ESOL or other English language qualification at Entry 3 as a minimum due to the language requirements of the course.

Materials

You will need a pen, an A4 sized lined notepad and a folder to keep your work in. Access to the internet and a word processor is also desirable to allow you to complete research tasks and complete course assignments.
