Why study this course?
This course is designed to prepare you to enter the specific sector of men’s hairdressing. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific role of a hairdresser. This part-time course is for those with existing knowledge in the hairdressing sector therefore, the number of weeks may be less as you will already have knowledge in the mandatory units of client care and health and safety. This course will be delivered through a robust journey therefore, attendance to all evening lessons is mandatory to achieve this qualification timely.
Course content
You will learn how to cut men’s hair and facial hair, whilst recognising the importance of health and safety and client consultation.
There is practical observation / assessment on clients to complete the appropriate assessment criteria. You will create a portfolio of evidence which includes theory work of anatomy and physiology of the head and skull, and Health and Safety. Workbooks and assignments are also a mandatory part of the course and upon occasion, this may involve research at home.
Entry requirements
Please do not apply for this course if you do not hold a current level 2 hairdressing qualification, due to the nature of the practical work being undertaken and the demands of the part-time course. There are 4 exams in total.
Materials
You will be asked to use your level 2 cutting kit for this course. There will be a kit available should you need to reorder any items, and this is cost covered by yourself. Further information will be given upon advice and guidance from the course leader, during interview.
You are asked to supply your own notebook, pen and a lever arch folder.
A smart black shirt or polo shirt is required, with smart trousers and closed toe shoes – please no trainers.
