Why study this course?

Individuals who are passionate about supporting learners to achieve personal goals and develop independence skills and would like to work in the growing area of SEND within Post 16. The Level 3 qualifications are appropriate for those wishing to gain experience of the role or who have learning support as part of their existing responsibilities.

Course content

The Level 3 Certificate for Learning Support Practitioners equips learners with the necessary skills, knowledge and competence for providing learning support across a range of contexts. This qualification provides 30 credits. It includes the requirement of 40 hours of placement supporting learners, which is available at Halesowen College. This involves a regular weekly, 2 hours minimum, placement up to 40 hours with a commitment to regular week days and times. Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence and observations during placement.

Understanding and managing behaviour in a learning environment

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, although learners are required to complete a BKSB Initial Maths and English Assessment. All Learning Support Practitioners should have or be developing skills in English and maths at Level 2.

Passport/driving licence and evidence for DBS check.
