Graphic Communication A Level
About this course
The course will give you the opportunity to study a number of techniques and use an extensive range of materials to produce highly individual works of Typography, Illustration and Graphic Design. In addition, you will complete a personal investigation into a graphic design theme and complete two externally set assignments. Graphic Communication combines artistic flair with the computer skills required in most areas of visual communication. Illustration, packaging and advertising rely on good Graphic Design and this course will develop the creative practical skills to help you maximise your design potential.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by coursework, including an externally set assignment, personal investigation, set assignment coursework and exam.
What do I need?
- 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C including English and Maths at grade 4 (grade C)
- Art at grade C
In certain circumstances we will accept variations to this entry guide and create a personalised programme.

In the first year there is a trip to Liverpool and in the second year there are trips to various galleries. Graphic Communication combines well with Photography, Art, Communication & Culture, Media Studies, Film Studies, Textiles, English Language and/or Literature and ICT.
