About this course

Days/Times: Wednesday and Thursday evenings only. No daytime class.

An interview is required before you are able to enrol on to this course.

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3 is the intermediate level of the AAT Accounting Qualification.

It offers technical training in accounting and its main purpose is to provide students with specialist knowledge and skills to gain employment in an accounting role and/or the opportunity to progress to further qualification in accountancy or a related field.

At this intermediate level, you will master more complex financial processes, including final accounts for Sole traders and Partnerships, Analysing cost and revenue, Indirect Tax, Spreadsheets and Ethics.

Once you have completed the intermediate level, you will be awarded the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3.

What will I learn?

AVBK - Advanced Bookkeeping
FAPR - Final Accounts preparation
MMAC - Management Accounting: Costing
IDRX - Indirect Tax
AVSY - Spreadsheets for Accounting & Ethics for Accountants (Synoptic Assessment)

All units are mandatory.

How will I be assessed?

Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Management Accounting: Costing and Indirect Tax are assessed through Unit assessments set and marked by AAT.

Spreadsheets for Accounting and Ethics for Accountants are assessed through a Synoptic assessment, set and marked by AAT. This assessment will also assess the Accounting units.

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is subject to re-sit restrictions.

The overall result for the qualification is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What do I need?

Specific Requirements

Entry into this stage is either AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, Short course in Accounting level 2, GCE A Level in Accounting (Grades A - E) or, in some cases, relevant work experience.

Students need to have good prior knowledge of double entry.

It is necessary to have a good level of English and Maths skills. (We require students to have at least 5 GCSEs grade C or above including English language and Maths.)

Please discuss suitable entry level with the course leader.

Where can it take me?

Successful completion of this course should allow you progress to AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4.

Course fee (2018/19) £2573.00
This fee includes AAT Registration, Professional Registration and exam fees.
You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from the Students Loans Company or pay the college directly either as a lump sum or by instalments.

Unit price (no remissions available) - £515.00

There will be no course cost (£0.00) if you are:

  • Aged 16-18 years
  • Aged 19-23 with no Level 3 qualification, e.g. 2 or more A Levels or a Level 3 BTEC etc.
