About this course
Since the worldwide recession and credit crunch, investors, governments and the public have demanded answers from economists.
If you are looking for a career in investment management, banking, accountancy and the financial services, Economics will provide you with a thorough understanding of key theory and skills necessary to excel.
Economics is the study of how we can best allocate our scarce resources (e.g. land, labour, capital and entrepreneurship) to satisfy unlimited wants of society. Put another way, how can we better solve society’s needs with what we have?
What will I learn?
The course provides you with a range of skills and tools to analyse given problems and produce viable solutions.
During the course you will be studying unemployment, inflation, gross domestic product, economic growth, exchange rates and international trade in the macro unit. We also explore demand and supply, elasticities and externalities in the micro unit.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by written exams.
What do I need?
You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs with 2 at Grade B/6 and 3 at Grade C/4.
