Applied Law - Level 3 Certificate - Year 1

Everyone in the country is affected by the Law. This course will help you to understand how the English legal system works, from where laws are made and the roles of people working in administrating the law such as magistrates, juries, lawyers and the police.

By using a variety of learning activities, such as role play, class debates and Internet research you will have an excellent opportunity to develop an appreciation of the legal process.

How will I be assessed?

The will be a variety of controlled assessments and coursework for each of the 4 units that you will complete.

What do I need?

You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 and above, including English Language or Literature.

Where can it take me?

  • Halesowen College - you can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses including HNC/D Business.
  • University - related degree such as Law, Criminology, Business, International Law & Politics
  • Careers - This course is ideal if you are interested in a career as a Paralegal, Police Officer, Civil Servant, Probation Officer or Solicitor.

Additional information

There will be an opportunity to participate in a visit to Parliament.

This course should be combined with A Levels. Good combinations could include Business and Politics.
