A team of practicing arts professionals will work closely with you to develop the creative skills you will need to pursue a career in Art and Design. Through one-
to one teaching and support, we will help you gain confidence in your creative training, as well as opening new opportunities to develop your critical knowledge of contemporary and historical art practice.
Your skills will be nurtured through a range of practical hands on projects that will allow you to explore a broad approach to Fine Art making.
Your final grade is awarded through a combination of coursework and an externally set assignment, ending in an examination at the end of the second year.
You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs – 2 at Grade 6 and 3 at Grade 5, including an Art & Design subject.
A Level 2 Vocational qualification in Art & Design or a strong portfolio may also be considered.
Retaking GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4.
You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses including Graphics HNC, or a Creative Apprenticeship. Other options include the BTEC Foundation Degree in Art and Design, HND Art & Design or a related degree in a subject such as Fine Art, Art & Design, Illustration, Textiles, Fashion, Architecture and Teaching.
Art A Level combines well with English Literature, Graphic Communication, History, Photography & Textiles.
