Caring for Children Level 1

This course provides the foundation to develop a wide range of skills and techniques essential for anyone interested in a career in Early Years & Education. The course is delivered through a range of topics, enabling you to understand how to research, develop and evaluate your ideas.

As part of this course you will study 12 units, including An Introduction to Children’s Play & Learning, Forest Schools and Science Activities for Young Children.

Teaching and learning will be a mixture of practical and class-based sessions developing your ability to stimulate and engage the children you will work with.

A clear Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required and you will have the opportunity to attend a placement where you will gain first-hand experience of working with children.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through a combination of coursework and assignments.

What do I need?

You will need Literacy and Numeracy assessments, an interview and a satisfactory reference

Where can it take me?

You can progress to Level 2 vocational courses, either within Early Years or a different subject area. 

This course will give you an insight into working with children, although you will require further study at a higher level to work as a Childcare Practitioner.
