English for Speakers of Other Languages Entry Level 1, 2, 3

This course is suitable for students whose first language is not English. It is also ideal for students who have only been at school in the UK for 4 years (or less). This course combines English Language skills development with a range of units designed to prepare you for the world of work and/or further education.

These units include:

Functional English & Maths

ESOL (Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing)

Healthy Living

IT & Digital Skills

Teamwork

Science

You will take part in a work placement and there will be a group trip during each term.

How will I be assessed?

During the course, you will complete a range of units and compile a portfolio. There will be on-going assessment of your coursework. For Maths and English Functional Skills there will be an exam at the end of the year. For ESOL there will be an exam at the end of each term.

What do I need?

You will need to attend an interview where your initial language skills will be assessed.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to vocational courses at Entry 3, Level 1, Level 2 or possibly A Levels. Previous students have progressed onto: Travel & Tourism, Business & IT Users,

Childcare, Hairdressing, Beauty, Public Services, Hospitality & Catering, Graphic Design, Art & Design and Applied Science. 

You could consider relevant employment in your chosen area of study.
