Foundation Hospitality, Catering & Employability Level 1/Entry Level 3

This course is suitable if you are interested in pursuing a career in the Hospitality sector, but would find the transition to the Level 1 Catering course difficult. Units in both food production in our Training Kitchens, and food service within our Training Restaurant, Bistro at B63, will offer an insight into the Hospitality and Catering Sector.

During the course, you will complete a variety of units, which will introduce you to Basic Food Preparation, Baking, Food and Drink Service, Menu Planning and Food Hygiene. In addition, you will gain an understanding of using ICT in the workplace.

You will also complete work experience within the Hospitality & Catering sector and be expected to undertake placements in the College Training Restaurant, Bistro at B63, and the College Shop ‘Elliott’s’.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through coursework.

What do I need?

A successful interview and satisfactory school reference.

To be successful, however, you are expected to be working at a minimum of Entry Level 3 in English and Entry Level 2 in Maths.

Where can it take me?

You could progress to a Level 1 or 2 Catering course.

You could also consider a junior position in Catering, but further training is probably a better option.
