About this course

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a junior hairdresser/stylist.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a hairdresser/stylist including the mandatory units which include, working in the hair industry, health and safety, client consultation, shampoo and conditioning hair, cutting women’s hair and the art of dressing hair and colour and lighten hair.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of anatomy, health and safety, client consultation, and products, tools and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to effectively consult with clients, shampoo and condition, and cut and finish their hair. You will also develop interpersonal skills, which will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

What do I need?

You will require a Level 1 in Hairdressing or will have to have a successful interview and trade test.

A good level of literacy and communication skills is essential. Preferable 2 GCSE at grade D or above (must include English) and 1 GCSEs at grade E or above (must include Maths)

  • Uniform/flat shoes

There will be no course cost (£0.00) if you are:

  • Aged 16-18 years
  • Aged 19+ and in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (wider benefits in some circumstances)
  • Aged 19+ and earning less than £15,736.50
