About this course

Designed to give you a solid foundation and insight into the Music industry, this course explores business, technology and performance in equal proportions.

As a Music student you can make full use of the facilities within the department and enjoy the opportunity to join a band and perform in a professional setting.

Gigs are held every half term and are open to parents, guardians, friends and members of the public.

If you are more interested in Music Technology you can follow the development of Music and Key Production styles over the last 50 years.

Having an existing understanding of music is helpful but not a must.

What will I learn?

The course explores a wide variety of topics including, Working in the Music Industry, Composition, Music Theory, Sound Operations, Computer Music Systems and Performance.

How will I be assessed?

This will be by a combination of performance, coursework and theory.

What do I need?

General Requirements

  • 3 GCSEs with 1 subject at grade D and English and Maths at grade 2 (grade E)

In certain circumstances we will accept variations to this entry guide and create a personalised programme.

Additional Information

You will be expected to attend a practical workshop as part of the interview process and give a 1 minute solo in the style of your choice.
