About this course
Looking for a career in music? You have plenty to choose from!
As a musician you are effectively a self-employed specialist who can turn their hand to multiple income streams at once, leaving you with the prospect of doing something you love for a living!
This Level 3 programme offers a chance for you to develop a variety skills in order to give yourself the experience and knowledge to go into any number of career pathways while developing important transferable skills that will aid any learner in any industry.
You will take part in numerous external shows including our acclaimed Mayfly Festival and you will benefit from the experience of staff who are both seasoned professionals and trained teachers.
All of this as well as using our specialist equipment including 6 live rooms, 3 studios, 2 Mac suites and miles of jack leads! We practise what we preach!
The course requires you to have some ability with a chosen instrument and may be tailored to support your playing; however we are firm believers that it is not where you start, but where you end up.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be by a combination of performance, coursework and theory.
What do I need?
You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English Language.
Additional Requirement: you will be expected to attend a live audition and experience of playing an instrument is vital
Where can it take me?
- Halesowen College - a range of HNC/D, Foundation Degrees and professional qualifications, including Music HND
- University - related degree such as Music, Performance, Public Relations, Teaching and Marketing
This course should be combined with A Levels.
Good combinations include Drama & Theatre Studies and Media.
