Music Technology A Level
About this course
If you are a musician or a technologist looking for an incredible two year journey through studio production, sound engineering, studio session playing, theory, history and context then this is the course for you.
Giving you a strong foundation on which to become a rounded engineer, composer and performer, who is flexible across the whole Creative Arts sector.
The course focuses on a portfolio of coursework and practical tasks set by the exam board, these include remixing, studio briefs, working with scores and more.
You will experience high pressure situations and will need to apply a wide range of creative and technical skills to reach a high level of achievement tasks.
All practical knowledge is supported through a thorough foundation of theoretical knowledge, which is put to the test in a June exam.
How will I be assessed?
In both the first and second years assessment is 70% coursework, based on three pieces, and 30% written exam at the end of each year.
What do I need?
You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs with 2 at Grade B/6 and 3 at Grade C/4.
Additional Requirement: Grade 3 standard in Music Theory
