Art exhibition for Junaid

NEWS

Halesowen College Art and Design student Junaid Rathore is exhibiting his work at Coventry Biennial through the Ikon Youth Programme.

Junaid’s work is part of an exhibition called `Like a short cut through the brambles’ where he worked with artist Seungwon Jung to create his art work.

The theme was nature changing through time and combines the traditional techniques of weaving using modern printing technology.

Seungwon taught the young people how to weave using different weaving patterns using a wooden frame. They used naturally dyed threads to create their own pattern.

Coventry Biennial is held across five exhibition spaces and features the works of 15 diverse artists and is a social, political and critical platform for contemporary art. It takes place across Coventry and Warwickshire until January 2024.

Junaid said: “I am very excited to have my work on display.”

Junaid is 18, lives in Birmingham and is a former pupil of Leasowes High School.
