Deputy Lieutenant Joins in College’s Big Lunch Celebrations

NEWS

On Tuesday 10th June, Halesowen College welcomed community groups for afternoon tea.  Joining the event was Deputy Lieutenant Elizabeth Foster, representing the Lord-Lieutenant for the West Midlands, Derrick Anderson CBE.

This event was part of the UK’s ‘Big Lunch 2025’ celebrations, the annual event which brings communities together for a few hours of friendship, food and fun, connecting people and encouraging friendlier, safer communities.

Throughout these celebrations that are hosted nationwide, over a thousand people are set to attend lunches, afternoon teas and picnics which will coincide with the year’s Big Lunch project to celebrate everything that makes our communities great.

Commenting on the afternoon, Deputy Lieutenant Elizabeth Foster said “I received a very warm welcome from Halesowen College and was a pleasure to celebrate the work that they do; contributing to skills development of those learners that will be entering the care sector. Thank you to all of those involved in the day.”

Principal and Chief Executive of Halesowen College said “Each year we host an event as part of the FE Big Lunch.  It was a really lovely afternoon and a great opportunity to invite Deputy Lieutenant Elizabeth Foster and people from across our community into college.”
