Why study this course?

The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is the introductory level of the AAT Accounting Qualification. It is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance.
This course delivers a solid foundation which provides you with the basic knowledge of accounting, covering subjects such as:
  • Double-entry bookkeeping
  • Basic costing principles
  • Purchase, sales and general ledgers
  • Computerised accounts and how to work effectively in finance.
Once you have completed this level successfully, you will be awarded the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting.
This qualification could lead you to careers such as Accounts Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Purchase / Sales ledger clerk, Trainee Accountant.

Course content

This entry-level qualification covers a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in five mandatory papers. They include;
  • Bookkeeping Transactions
  • Bookkeeping Controls
  • Elements of Costing
  • Accounting Software
  • Working Effectively in (This is a synoptic assessment)

Entry requirements

We expect the prospective students to have 5 GSCEs at grade C or above and these must include English Language and Maths. If necessary, you may be asked to take a diagnostic assessment so that appropriate additional support may be arranged for you. There is a substantial amount of written work do undertake in addition to number work. All students interested in this level are required to have an interview before enrolment.
