Why study this course?
This course will allow you to develop an insight into teaching in the lifelong learning sector. The qualification is aimed at people who work or want to work as teachers / trainers in the further education and skills sector.
You will be able to develop skills in planning, delivery and reflection through a variety of activities.
The course is great for people who are not in a teaching role or who have just started a teaching role and for those who want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices.
Course content
There are 3 units including the role and responsibilities of teachers, inclusive teaching and assessment.
There will also be a micro teach session completed in front of your peers lasting for a minimum of 15 minutes, this may be recorded for quality purposes.
There is a written assignment for each unit, each has a number of different parts.
All work will be presented in an online portfolio throughout the course.
Entry requirements
You will need to have a pass in GCSE English and maths or be working towards this. Work completed is expected to be at ‘A’ level standard. All work must be word processed; therefore, computer skills will also be needed.
As this qualification is for preparing to teach in Further Education, it is a requirement that you are qualified in a L3 vocational / A Level subject or higher you aspire to teach, which has been studied in Further Education or at university.
Progression
Subject to successful interview, you can progress on to L5 Diploma in Teaching.
