Why study this course?

This award is for those who work, or have interest in working as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector.

The course is suitable for those who are not in a teaching role, or who have just started a teaching role.

It provides a strong foundation in planning and delivery of resources and activities.

Course content

This qualification consists of 3 units:

  • the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • inclusive teaching and learning approaches
  • assessment of learners

The assessment methods include written assignments and a 15 minute microteach presentation, you will have a designated tutor throught the study programme.

Entry requirements

To enable further progression following on from this course, it is recommended you have a L3 qualification in a subject/industry specialism.

Suitable for students 19+.

It is expected that applicants have a good literacy and can commnicate effectively.

It is expected applicants will have a good level of numeracy skill.

No teaching experience required.

Progression

This course provides a foundation and step up to the L5 Diploma in Teaching. To progress to this, applicants must also have a pass in both English and Maths and a L3 in a subject specialism.

Learning materials will be supplied by the college.

Please bring along pens and a notepad to each lesson.
