Why study this course?

If you are interested in becoming a Teaching Assistant within a school and not had any experience of this role previously, then this course is for you.  This qualification is to prepare you for further learning and training, whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting, as well as  how to support the well-being of a child or young person and their development.

This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting including: young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.

Course content

The course consists of 3 units:
  • Understand schools as organisations;
  • Understand how to keep children and young people healthy, safe and well
  • Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults.
For all 3 units you will need to provide a range of evidence such as posters, designing a leaflet or booklet, charts, or written assignments.
All are internally marked which means no exam at the end!!

Entry requirements

There are no official entry requirements for this course just a desire to commence the journey to becoming a Teaching Assistant. The use of, or access to, a laptop/computer/tablet is required to be able to complete aspects of the course.
