About this course
This course will help you to get valuable experience and develop skills that will be useful when working within the animal industry. Through the study of units such as controlling and restraining animals, selecting and preparing accommodation for animals and promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals, you will gain an understanding of the care and welfare of a wide range of species.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be by creating a portfolio, written work, practical assessment and photographic evidence.
What do I need?
- 3 GCSEs with 1 subject at grade D and English and Maths at grade 2 (grade E)
- Level 1 Certificate in Practical Small Animal Care
In certain circumstances we will accept variations to this entry guide and create a personalised programme.

You need to complete 100 hours work experience within the animal industry.
There will be a range of visits to zoos, nature reserves etc.
