Healthcare Science Apprenticeship Level 2
About this course
If you have a genuine interest in caring for people and want to make a career within the National Health Service or private Care industry, then this 15 month Apprenticeship is right for you. You will need to be well presented and confident in dealing on a one to one basis with all age groups, and you will have an interest in extending your knowledge of Biological Science.
You will work in a doctor’s surgery, hospital or pharmacy for four days per week and attend College one day per week, where you will work towards the Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science. You will also be visited in the workplace by a College assessor who will guide you and assess your developing skills, which may involve testing for diabetes, taking blood pressure and a wide range of other medical support activities. Your assessor will also help you prepare for the End Point Assessment at the end of your Apprenticeship. This will comprise practical and knowledge tests and a one to one interview.
You will also work to improve your skills in English and Maths over the course of your Apprenticeship.
How will I be assessed?
Your knowledge and practical skills will be assessed both at College and in the workplace throughout your Apprenticeship, as well as in the End Point Assessment.
What do I need?
You will need at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 including English Language, Maths and preferably Double Science. In addition you will also need to secure a job with an employer.
Where can it take me?
College Progression - you can progress to the Level 4 Apprenticeship in Healthcare Science after a period of work within the sector.
