The Access to A Levels pathway offers prospective students the chance to study a range of GCSEs in order to gain the skills, understanding and entry requirements needed to progress to an A Level or alternative Level 3 programme at Halesowen College.
Students will be encouraged to follow a pathway that will allow them to progress into a relevant Level 3 subject area, which will encourage overlap in some of the courses studied:
Expressive Arts Pathway: English, Maths, Media, Film, and Drama
Humanities Pathway: English, Maths, History, Citizenship, and either Psychology or Sociology
Social Sciences Pathway: English, Maths, Citizenship, Sociology, and Psychology
Sciences Pathway: English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Open Pathway: English, Maths, and a choice of 3 other GCSEs
*English and/or Maths can be replaced by other subjects if proof of a passing grade is provided
The full range of subjects offered is detailed below:
- English Language
- Citizenship Studies - combination of Law, Politics and Economics
- Film Studies
All students have access to a dedicated Personal Coach in order to help support them through their Access to A Levels programme.
You will need to be between 16-18 years old and have achieved at least 2 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above and 2 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English and Maths.
Retaking GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4
Successful completion of the Access to A Level course will allow you to progress to studying A Levels or a Level 3 Vocational Programme at Halesowen College.
