Animal Management - Level 3 - Year 1

We provide excellent Animal Care education with specialist facilities providing housing for exotic mammals and reptiles, as well as domestic small animals.

The animal-based courses are well established with successful delivery over a number of years.

This one or two year course consists of practical and theory sessions, giving you experience of working with a wide variety of animal species.

It is suitable if you want to increase your knowledge and develop an understanding of animals.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by written coursework, practical observation, photographic evidence and oral presentations.

There are three externally assessed units in the form of written examinations.

What do I need?

You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English, Maths and Science.

  • University - related degree, such as Zoology, Animal Science, Veterinary Nursing, Animal Behaviour, Equine Studies, and Animal Health & Welfare

Additional information

A 300 hour work experience placement is required in an animal-related industry: one day per week will be allocated as part of your timetable.

You will take part in one timetabled session per week of practical work which will include handling, feeding, cleaning and other husbandry duties.

All of your other timetabled sessions will be classroom based.

A desire to work with animals is important, especially the willingness to handle all types of animal including exotic mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
