This course provides a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and techniques, essential for anyone interested in a career in Science. The course is delivered through a range of topics enabling you to understand how to research, develop and evaluate your ideas.
This course will give you an excellent foundation if you want to progress on
to a Level 3 Science course. You will study a variety of scientific topics such as Environmental Studies, Waves & Telecommunications, Laboratory Techniques, Health, and Chemical Analysis. You will be encouraged to investigate things for yourself and develop your individual learning skills.
The course is assessed through coursework, including practical investigations, presentations and open book tests.
You will ned to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English, Maths and two sciences. It Is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.
You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course, including Science, Engineering, Health & Social Care or IT.
AN APPRENTICESHIP COULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
You could consider a junior position as a Science Technician or Laboratory Assistant.
