This Apprenticeship is an excellent first step towards a career in Engineering, which is a priority area for growth in the Black Country. It would be particularly suitable if you have a good grasp of Maths, together with an interest in practical problem solving. By choosing this programme you are likely to have a hands on role in industries as varied as automotive, aeronautical, building, design and robotics.
You will attend College 1 day per week to work towards a Level 3 vocational qualification in Engineering and the remaining 4 days each week in an Engineering job. Your developing skills will be assessed in the workplace by a visiting College assessor.
Assessment is mainly by a series of assignments that follow each of the units. Practical skills in the workplace are assessed by observation, professional discussion, witness testimony and written statements.
You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English, Maths and a Science subject.
In addition, you will also need to have secured a job with an employer.

College Progression – you could progress to a Higher Apprenticeship, where you will study for an HNC in Engineering.
