Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs) have a very important role in modern veterinary practice. VCAs work alongside Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses to provide essential care to a wide range of small animal patients. This 15 month Apprenticeship will allow you to develop the essential skills of a VCA and will include Maths & English at Level 2, unless this has already been achieved. The course includes elements of blended learning, to encourage you to link College theory to practical skills and help you excel in practice.
This Apprenticeship is assessed by coursework, tests and building a portfolio of evidence with the support of a clinical mentor. All apprentices must complete an end-point assessment.
You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and Maths. Alternatively, you will need to take Maths & English as part of your Apprenticeship.
In addition, you will need to secure a job with an employer.
