Apprenticeship - Veterinary Care Nursing Assistant - Level 2

Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs) have a very important role in modern veterinary practice. VCAs work alongside Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses to provide essential care to a wide range of small animal patients. In practice, it is a varied role where no 2 days are ever the same – you could be involved with:

  • Caring for inpatients, including exercising, grooming & feeding hospitalised animals
  • Cleaning & preparing accommodation for animals
  • Assisting with theatre practice, preparing for anaesthesia & maintaining relevant equipment
  • Reception duties & client care, including promoting animal health

This 15 month Apprenticeship will allow you to develop the essential skills of a VCA and will include Maths & English at Level 2, unless this has already been achieved. The course includes elements of blended learning, to encourage you to link College theory to practical skills and help you excel in practice.
