Art & Design Level 3

This course offers you exciting and stimulating opportunities to develop practical skills, and the ability to think creatively and imaginatively within different areas of Art & Design in preparation for a career in the creative industries.

Through experimentation with 2D and 3D Fine Art, Graphic Design, Textiles and 3D Design Craft, you will gain an understanding of the distinct characteristics
of different Art & Design disciplines before making choices about the creative pathway that you wish to pursue. A, studio based and practical course that encourages you to take risks, think creatively and explore the possibilities of Art & Design in the 21st Century.

You will be expected to complete a work experience placement in Year 1 and Year 2.

How will I be assessed?

In Year 1, your work is externally assessed through a final project. The project is set in February by UAL and you will produce an evaluation of your project under invigilation at the end of the year.

In Year 2, you will develop a personal body of work that allows for individual expression and ownership. The culmination of this individual research and development is a substantial final project that is exhibited in the end of year exhibition. This final major project is internally assessed and externally moderated by UAL

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and an art-based subject. A relevant Level 2 qualification will also be considered.

Retaking GCSE Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4.

You will need to provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates passion, commitment and energy.

Where can it take me?

You could progress to a range of higher level courses, including Foundation Diploma in Art & Design and Creative Media Production HNC/D. You can also study a range of degrees at university, including Fine Art, Visual Communication, Set and Costume Design, Architecture and Product Design.
