This course will give you the opportunity to learn and develop makeup, basic skincare, nails & basic beauty skills.
During the course you will focus on the following components:

You will be assessed using a variety of methods, including practical observation of treatments, group assessment on a number of themes and end of unit tests. You will also compile a portfolio of evidence.
You will need GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 (grade D or above). Art/crafts and science subjects would also be beneficial. A level 2 qualification in a related subject would also be accepted.
Upon completion, you could progress to the Level 3 Theatrical & Media Makeup course or develop your portfolio with the Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. You might also consider employment in the retail or fashion industries or becoming a self-employed makeup artist.
There is an annual visit to The International Makeup Artist Trade Show in London, as well as other trips and enrichment activities.
Work experience is an essential requirement of the course and may involve working evenings and weekends at local theatres, community venues & professional concerns.
