The two strands of this course, Business & IT, will prepare you for progression to a Level 2 programme.
In the Business strand, you will investigate how businesses work, and why innovation and change are important. Youwill develop your own business idea and present it to others. You will also investigate where businesses obtain their money from and how they spend it, and the importance of delivering good customer service to everyone you meet and how to ensure you do this effectively.
The IT strand will focus on designing and presenting information for an audience, using a wide variety of digital software. You will learn how to use email, social media and visual media for a given purpose. You will also have the opportunity to create a simple website.
During the course, you will enhance your life skills and learn how to become more organised, using to-do lists, schedules, reminders and planners. You will enhance your research skills and how you record the information you have found. Working with others will improve your social interaction. You will consider what you want to do in the future, and what you need to do to achieve it.
All students are expected to complete a 1 week work experience placement
The course is assessed through assignments.
Literacy and Numeracy tests, plus a satisfactory interview
You can progress to a Level 2 vocational course, such as Business and IT.
You could consider a junior position working in Business or IT, but further training would be more appropriate.
