Business - Level 3 Certificate - Year 1

This course is ideal for you if you are keen and interested in developing your understanding of how businesses operate.

Throughout the course you will enjoy learning about a wide range of topics such as: Marketing, Personal & Business Finance, Recruitment, Business Structures and the Economy.

You will also learn about well-known major international businesses such as Apple, Jaguar Land Rover, Tesco, Netflix, Amazon, and many more.

How will I be assessed?

The course is made up of 4 different units and is assessed through a combination of internal assessments (course work set and marked by your lecturer) and external assessments (set and marked by the exam board).

Assessments can include real-world tasks, tests, research projects, essays and presentations.

In addition, depending on chosen pathways there are 2 mandatory exams. The Marketing exam will take place in the first year of study and the Personal & Business Finance exam will take place in the second year of study.

What do I need?

You will need at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 and above, including English Language or Literature.

Where can it take me?

  • University - related degrees including Business Management, Accounting, Marketing, Law, International Business, Business Banking and Finance.
  • Careers - This course is ideal if you are interested in a career in Accountancy, Law, Marketing, Management, Retail, Office Manager, HR, Bank/Finance or owning your own business.

Additional information

Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to take part in a number of visits, to help with your knowledge and understanding of business concepts. You will be visiting businesses such as Alton Towers, Jaguar Land Rover, Birmingham Christmas Markets, Aston University, The Branding Museum in Kensington & Chelsea and the Houses of Parliament.

This course should be combined with A Levels

Good combinations could include Economics and Law.
