Caring for Children - Level 1

As part of this course you will study 12 units, including An Introduction to Children’s Play & Learning, Forest Schools, Craft and Science Activities for Young Children.

Teaching and learning will be a mixture of practical and class-based sessions in order for you have an introduction to stimulating and interesting the children you wish to work with in your future career.

How will I be assessed?

Coursework is assessed by the tutor. A portfolio of your work will be produced and Diploma level achieved when all units have been completed.

The majority of the work is through practical and written tasks completed in class.

You will be supported according to your individual needs throughout your qualification.

What do I need?

You will need Literacy and Numeracy assessments, an interview and satisfactory reference

Where can it take me?

  • College Progression – you can progress to Level 2 vocational courses either within Early Years or a different subject area.
  • This course will give you an insight into working with children although you will require further study at a higher level to work as a Childcare Practitioner.

Additional information

You need a clear Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and will have the opportunity to attend a placement where you will gain first-hand experience of working with children.
