Apprenticeship - Commis Chef - Level 2

If you have a genuine interest in food and want to learn to cook great dishes in a commercial kitchen, this 15 month Apprenticeship is for you.

You will need a good palate and be prepared for hard work - but the reward is great job satisfaction. This Apprenticeship will allow you to gain the knowledge and skills required to have a successful career in the industry.

You will work in the College’s Catering kitchens for 1 day a week to work towards a Level 2 Catering qualification and be employed four days per week in a commercial kitchen. You will also be visited in the workplace by a College assessor who will guide you and assess your developing skills, and help you prepare for the End Point Assessment at the end of your Apprenticeship. This will comprise of practical and knowledge tests and a one to one interview.

You will also work to improve your skills in English and Maths over the course of your Apprenticeship.

How will I be assessed?

Your knowledge and practical skills will be assessed both at College and in the workplace throughout your Apprenticeship, as well as in the End Point Assessment.

What do I need?

You will need at least 1 GCSE at Grade D/3 or above with a Grade 3 in English and Maths. In addition you will also need to secure a job with an employer.

Where can it take me?

College Progression - you can progress to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Catering.
