Digital Music Production

This vibrant and varied study of Music Production will give you a solid foundation in DAW Production, Software, Studio Recording and Music and Sound Design for Media.

You will explore the Music Production process from concept through to product creating music using recording techniques, synthesis, commercial vocal acapella remixes, original moving image soundtracks, sound effect and voice production works. This is a fast paced and engaging study of one of the UK’s multi-billion pound exports.

As a Digital Music Production student, you will have the opportunity to use the College’s fantastic facilities that include rehearsal PODs, recording studios, rehearsal rooms, fully equipped Apple Mac Suites and a backline workshop.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of examination (DAW Production) and internal assessments that may take the form of recordings, compositions, written analysis & reflection, vlogs and other formats.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 and above, including English Language or Literature.

Retaking GCSE Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4

Where can it take me?

You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses, including HNC Engineering. A university degree in a related subject is an option. 

This course is ideal if you are interested in a career as a Studio Engineer, Music Producer, Arranger, Composer for Film/TV/Commercial Music, Sound Designer, Game Designer or Programmer. 

This course should be combined with A Levels

Good combinations could include most Humanities subjects and Computer Science.
