Early Years Foundation T Level

This course can equip learners with the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to study a T Level qualification in Education and Early Years, which are relevant to industry and the workplace.

Learners will work towards National Technical Outcomes to include:

  • Plan play, learning or educational activities for children
  • Prepare environments for children’s play and learning
  • Observe children’s learning and development

The Transition Programme allows students to upgrade GCSE grades to a Grade 5 profile through embedded GCSE resit lessons.

The programme will involve:

Preparation for study of the core content of T Level in Education and Early Years, to include Safeguarding, Observing and Planning for Children’s Development and the Importance of Play.

An Industry placement with an employer focused on developing skills, knowledge and behaviour required for the occupation. A minimum of 150 hours are recommended in order to prepare for placement requirements on the T Level and to provide necessary experience of the workplace.

The development of a route-based project to reflect current best practice in the education sector.

How will I be assessed?

Core knowledge, skills and behaviours will be assessed through ongoing formative assessments in the classroom and in placement to ensure learners are meeting the requirements of the National Technical Outcomes. The route-based project also forms part of the assessment.

What do I need?

4 grade 4 GCSE’s to include either Maths, English or Science

Where can it take me?

Successful completion of the transition programme and an upgrade of GCSE’s to grade 5 in 3 core subjects will allow for progression onto the T Level qualification in Education and Early Years.

An apprenticeship could also be considered.
