Students completing this course will be budding entrepreneurs with a business idea that they wish to pursue further. The course has been developed with a view to equipping learners with the entrepreneurial skills that are required in order to start their own business.
These skills are increasingly valued by larger organisations, as creative ideas are encouraged in order to maximise quality and efficiency within the organisation.
This is a practical course that covers a wide range of topics, including elements of Economics, Accounts, Law, Marketing, Business Ethics and Human Resources. Students will be able to study and examine small businesses in order to enhance their practical understanding of these key areas. Work experience is a mandatory requirement for the course where completion of an appropriate placement enables students to link classroom theory to practical scenarios and enhance employability prospects.
Throughout the course there are opportunities to take part in visits that enhance knowledge and the general understanding of business concepts. There will also be an opportunity for students to practice their project management skills as part of a team, working in a marketplace environment.
The course is assessed through a combination of coursework and examinations.
You will need to achieve at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
An initial Business idea would also be advantageous.
You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses, including Business HNC/D.
AN APPRENTICESHIP COULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
This course is ideal if you want to run your own business but will also prepare you to work in a range of business fields, such as Finance, Marketing, Retail, or Human Resources.
