Graphic Design and Illustration Level 3

Are you bursting with creative ideas and ready to take your next step towards a career in the creative industries? This course will provide you with the essential skills you need to land your first job in visual design or progress to university.

You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about design, you will develop the skills required to start your career such as writing an eye-catching CV, contributing to a discussion and delivering a presentation.

To further enhance your employability skills there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement. This, compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class to the real world of work.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through coursework. You will work on realistic design assignments and you will be expected to show evidence of the way you created the work, including research, written annotations and evaluations.

You will have the opportunity to exhibit your work at the College’s End of Year Show.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and an art-based subject. A relevant Level 2 qualification may also be considered.

Retaking GCSE Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4.

You will need to present a portfolio of your work.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a range of higher level courses, including Creative Media Production HNC/D.
