The main purpose of this course is to help you to develop your Hairdressing skills, techniques and knowledge, which will prepare you for progression to the next level of vocational learning. It will also ensure that you have the skills required to create a ‘total look’ by studying a variety of Hairdressing units.
You will need to have successfully completed Level 1 Hair and Beauty Skills or have GCSE grade 3 in English and maths
Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected into a portfolio of evidence.
Guidance for this will come from your Assessor, who may ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding, Your Assessor will also observe your practical performance in one assessment and your grade will be determined by achievement of assessment criteria and achievement of additional performance standards.
You will need to have successfully completed the Level 1 Hair & Beauty Skills and have GCSEs at Grade 3 in English and Maths. An interview is also required.
You will have the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities, including visits to industry shows and competitions, talk to guest speakers and engage with local employers by undertaking work experience.
You will also have the opportunity to learn core skills in Health & Safety, Working in the Hair & Beauty Industry, Following Health & Safety in the Salon, Client & Customer Skills, Promoting & Selling Products & Services and Creating a Retail Display Area.
