A Level and Vocational Combined

This course will develop your learning and skills in IT and computer systems at a higher level. It covers different aspects of Computer Science and IT, including computer hardware, software, networks, legislation, industry bodies, how organisations use IT and information, information security, threats to data and protection methods.

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed through a combination of examinations and coursework.

In Year 1: Two examined units are studied; Information Systems and Global information.

In Year 2: Two additional optional units chosen from Project Management, Product Development, Systems Analysis & Design and Internet of Everything are assessed, using assignments and coursework.

A final examined unit in Cyber Security completes the course.

What do I need?

You will need to have GCSEs with 2 grade 6s and 3 grade 5s including English Language. Retaking GCSE Maths as as part of your programme is required if you do not have grade 4.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses, including HNC/HND Computing. An Apprenticeship, or a related degree, such as Computer Systems, Business Information Systems, Software Engineering or Computer Network Security, may be an option.

This course is ideal if you are interested in a career as an IT Technician, Network Engineer, Web Developer, Programmer, Database Analyst or IT Teacher.

This course should be combined with A Levels

Good combinations could include Graphics and Business. The problem-solving skills developed during this course will also complement many other disciplines.
