Level 3 Certificate for Learning Support Practitioners

This course is for people who are passionate about supporting students to achieve their personal goals and develop independent skills, and would like to work in a Learning Support role.

Practitioners who wish to support post 16 learning in a wide range of contexts.

This award can be taken alone and can be useful for those wishing to try out the role and for others who have learning support as a part of their wider work role.

This award can also provide an important stepping stone for those in related volunteer roles.

The course involves:

  • Attending a weekly session at college for 3 hours and building a portfolio of evidence.
  • Completing a placement at Halesowen College 40 hours in total of regular weekly contact supporting students (2 hours per week).
  • Commitment to regular weekly days/times are essential.

What do I need?

There are no specific entry requirements, although students are required to complete a BKSB Initial Assessment. All learning support practitioners should have or be developing skills in English and mathematics at Level 2.

Practitioners are required to be practising in a learning support role. This can be paid or voluntary work. Placements at Halesowen College will be arranged and supported with a mentor.
