Music Performance Foundation Diploma

A Level and Vocational Combined

This course will give you a taste of how to make a living in the music industry from a performer’s perspective. This includes Music Performance Techniques, Song Writing, Improvisation, Marketing Techniques, Events Management and more!

Students have the opportunity to use our specialist computer suites, studios, rehearsal pods and radio booth. Collaborative work with other vocational areas will help to develop work experience opportunities.

The course culminates in an opportunity to develop and perform at our annual Mayfly Festival.

How will I be assessed?

All assessment is course work based. Students will be assessed in a variety of situations; including performances, portfolio, presentations and essays.

What do I need?

You will need to have GCSEs with 2 grade 6s and 3 grade 5s including English Language. Ability to play an instrument is desirable. You will participate in a live audition. Retaking GCSE Maths as as part of your programme is required if you do not have grade 4.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses, including HND Music. You could also consider a related degree in Music Performance, Technology or Events Management.

This course is also ideal if you are interested in a career as a Freelance Performer, Music Teacher, Freelance Songwriter/Arranger, Music Technician or Music Promoter.

Additional information

This course should be combined with A Levels. Good course combinations include Drama & Theatre Studies and Media.
