Public Services – Uniformed Services Level 3

Are you interested in a career in the Emergency Services, Armed Forces, Prison Service, HMRC or any number of other public service careers?

This course has been developed with employers and professional bodies from both uniformed and non-uniformed Public Services to ensure that it is appropriate for those interested in this sector.

The course will introduce you to the necessary practical skills and knowledge that are required for a successful career in the Public Services. It also provides valuable life skills and knowledge which can be applied to many career paths.

You will be expected to wear Public Service uniform each day in College and take part in formal parades, undertaking drill training and gaining a wide range of skills. You will have to complete 30 hours work experience in a relevant career setting.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through coursework This will include regular practical assessment opportunities involving teamwork, leadership, peer assessment and outdoor activities. It also includes a mixture of presentations, reports, group discussions, timed assessments and other written and in-class assessments.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and Maths.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a range of higher level courses, including Sport & Exercise Science HNC/D and degrees in Public Services or Policing.

This course is ideal if you are interested in a career in the uniformed services sector, in roles such as Police Officer, Prison Officer, Probation Officer, Security Officer/Adviser, Firefighter or any of the many roles in the Armed Forces.
