Apprenticeship - Software Developer - Level 4

This new apprenticeship is offered for candidates who have already achieved a level 3 qualification in Computing or IT and who want to make a career as software developers. Software Developers build and test high quality code having interpreted design documentation and specifications. They work as part of a team, but will have responsibility for some elements of a project. Completion of this apprenticeship qualifies learners to apply to be put on the Register of IT Technicians.

How will I be assessed?

Your knowledge and practical skills will be assessed both at College and in the workplace throughout your Apprenticeship, as well as in the End Point Assessment.

What do I need?

  • A level Computing, BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in IT or extensive experience in the workplace.
  • You will also need to demonstrate some existing knowledge of programming.

Where can it take me?

  • Excellent job prospects (there is a shortage of Software Developers nationwide) and further training in Higher Education.
