The course will provide you with an opportunity to develop your sporting ability by providing opportunities to participate in Sport during lessons and also as part of our extensive extra- curricular Sport programme.
You will develop your coaching skills together with the opportunity to plan and deliver sports activities and events within College and at local schools. You will study a range of units, which will allow you to develop your academic skills and knowledge of the theoretical principles that underpin Sport.
Assessment will be varied and could include written assessments, presentations, formal conversations. and practical assessments.
You will need to achieve at least 4 GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above with Grade 3 in English, Maths and Science.
College Progression - you can progress to Level 3 vocational courses, including Sport and the Football Education Programme.
You may be required to undertake a check by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) to allow you to work with children and vulnerable adults.
You will need to buy the College’s sports kit and may be given the opportunity to take part in various trips during your time on the course.
You will be expected to take part in all practical lessons. This may require you to participate in certain sporting activities outside of your skill set or comfort zone.
An awareness of skills, tactics and techniques in a variety of sports would be an advantage. You must be prepared to undertake activities during week day evenings and weekends.
